UPDATE OCT 26: Thank you #ShireForTheRiver donors! Because of your generosity, we exceeded our $20,000 campaign goal-- and raised the most we have ever raised through this one-week campaign! We're taking a leap and setting a new stretch goal of $24,536 to take advantage of every single matching dollar available. Please give now and help protect clean water!
What is “Shire for the River”?
Since 2015, Eugene-Springfield’s technology business community, aka the “Silicon Shire,” has helped McKenzie River Trust raise nearly $50,000 through its annual Shire for the River campaign. Our tech leaders recognize that clean, healthy rivers contribute in so many ways to the terrific quality of life we enjoy here in the Willamette Valley. And they recognize that McKenzie River Trust, through its land acquisition and restoration programs, is effective at protecting and caring for our local watersheds and the fish and other wildlife that live there.
What’s our goal?
UPDATE 10/26: We're taking a leap and setting a new stretch goal of $24,536 to take advantage of every single matching dollar available.
INITIAL GOAL ACHIEVED! Raise $20,000 to help people protect and care for the lands and rivers they cherish in western Oregon.
When does it happen?
October 17 thru October 26, 2018.
Oct 17 at 5pm: Kickoff Happy Hour at Oakshire Public House, hosted by XS Media and the Technology Association of Oregon in the Southern Willamette Valley
How does it work?
Each year, local tech business leaders commit matching funds ahead of a public kickoff event and a weeklong social media/crowdfunding campaign. What you give during the campaign week is matched, dollar for dollar, up to the amount of matching funds committed by the participating companies. In 2017, seven area companies committed $8,500 in matching funds, helping the Trust raise $17,500, in all. This year, nine Eugene-based technology businesses have committed $12,268 in matching dollars, giving us the opportunity move well beyond our $20,000 goal.
