COVID-19 is having a significant impact on small nonprofits everywhere. Sidelined USA is no exception.
COVID-19 has sidelined the entire athletic community and the needs have never been greater to support the mental health of athletes experiencing an abrupt end to their ability to compete. Recognizing our unique positioning in this space, we jumped into action, creating resources to share with athletes, coaches, athletic trainers and more. We continue to plan for and publish more resources like these in the coming weeks/months.
We are committed to putting in the work to make specialized support resources available to all sidelined student-athletes nationwide at no cost and to elevate the standard of care for medically disqualified athletes through research, education, and advocacy.
That said, we are experiencing a significant financial crunch due to COVID-19's economic impact on our corporate sponsors, donors, and fundraising events. We’ve applied for government support but as we all know, the aid distributions have fallen short for small businesses and nonprofits and we are uncertain if and when such support will come through.
Would you consider a donation of any size to Sidelined USA through this GoFundMe charity page? GoFundMe is matching the first $1,000 for nonprofits with campaigns right now, up to $300K. We would love to capitalize on this donor match because for small nonprofits like ours, $1,000 goes a LONG way!
We have lofty goals for 2020 and with your help, we can begin to close the financial gap to enable us to continue in our projects without losing the traction we have worked so hard for.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 in the next two weeks to help sustain our work in supporting sidelined athletes in their time of need. Specifically, your gift will support our progress in publishing additional resources, creating original research, building our Campus Liaison program for a Fall launch, and writing grants to raise additional support funds.
Thank you for your consideration. Your continued support means the world to us.
Most of all, the Sidelined USA Team is wishing you health and well-being during these difficult times. As a reminder, please prioritize your own mental health and take care of yourselves with compassion.
We’re all in this together!
