The Crow Creek Sioux Reservation in SD, lies in what is arguably, the poorest county in the United States. With the closest town 35 miles away, there is little opportunity for employment. Families who are fortunate crowd into sub standard housing through the wicked cold Dakota winters. Some, less fortunate, sleep in cars with their children.
Dacotah Tipis Habitat for Humanity provides home repairs and winterization for the local families to improve the quality of life for families and children. Insulation and roof repairs mean that a family can stay warm and out of the elements. Plumbing repairs provide running hot and cold water. Accessibility ramps for the disabled and elderly offer mobility and more opportunities to socialize with the community. All work is done by volunteers. We need funding for tools and supplies. Please join us in helping our native brothers and sisters and their children. Mitauke Oasin! We are all one!
