The Shawn Thornton Foundation is dedicated to helping find cures for diseases close to Shawn's heart, specifically, Parkinson's and cancer. Shawn is a fellow Canadian, from Oshawa, who started his NHL hockey career with our very own Toronto Maple Leafs. His strong involvement in community and charitable events awarded him a prestigious award while part of the Boston Bruins as the most charitable player.
My desire to join and support this cause is very close to my heart as I lost my mother to cancer. I started running as an outlet to cope with the pain of this loss. Over the past 14 years I have pushed myself further and further with her as my guiding angel along the way.
Running the Boston Marathon is a lifetime dream for many runners. Completing this race will represent a significant milestone in my running career. The Abbott World Marathon Majors offers a medal for those who complete six of the world's largest marathons. Boston will represent the final race in my series of six and receiveing the Six Star Medal will be an incredible tribute to my guiding angel who has inspired through every race.

> Donate to support the funding required to find a cure and end the suffering
Thank you for your incredible generosity and support. Every dollar makes a difference as I look to meet my $8500 fundraising goal.
