The Shawn Thorton Foundation is dedicated to finding cures to cancer and Parkinson's - two diseases that have affected the lives of my loved ones as well as countless others.
Running the 2020 Boston Marathon as part of Thorty's team is a great honor. I dedicate my participation to two of my greatest role models - my grandpa Robert "Bob" Karlinsey and my uncle Kim Smith.
My Grandpa Bob encouraged my love for the outdoors from a young age, but his life was cut short due to pancreatic cancer when I was 14.
My Uncle Kim has lived with Parkinson's disease for over a decade. However, as a university professor he has made a major impact on the lives of hundreds of students.
Please join me in the fight against cancer and Parkinson's disease by donating to the Shawn Thorton Foundation.
More Information: The Shawn Thornton Foundation is dedicated to helping find cures for diseases close to Shawn's heart, specifically, Parkinson's and cancer. The Foundation will work towards this mission by raising awareness, funding innovative research and helping to relieve the burden and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
