I am so excited to be running the 123rd Boston Marathon on April 15, 2019!
As a life-long athlete and Boston native, the Boston Marathon always has been a dream of mine, and with my 40th birthday coming in March, the time is now!
I am thrilled that I will be running to support the Shawn Thornton Foundation.
Shawn is well-known for a successful NHL career that includes 2 Stanley Cup Championships, but what he's done off the ice to support those affected by Parkinson's disease and cancer is incredible and very inspiring.
After losing his grandmother to a 14-year battle with Parkinson’s and hearing the touching stories of so many cancer patients and their families during his hospital visits, Shawn was inspired to take the next step in his charitable efforts. He founded The Shawn Thornton Foundation with the mission to help cure life-threatening diseases, specifically Parkinson’s and cancer.
My goal is to raise $10,000 for the Foundation, which will use those donations to raise awareness, fund innovative research and help to relieve the burden and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
Your support means everything to me, and it will make a difference in the lives of so many others. Thanks for joining me on this journey!
