I am committing to walking 10,000 steps every day from Septemeber 28 to October 9th in solidarity with the Native Women's Shelter of Montreal. Please consider donating what you can to help me reach my goal of $300.
The funds will support Indigenous families navigating the child welfare systems, the funds raised from the Virtual Spirit Walk will go towards the salary of the Family Care Worker position at the Shelter. The Shelter and the Shelter’s Family Care Workers provide critical support to Indigenous mothers and families by empowering Indigenous women to advocate for themselves, their children and their rights as mothers during youth protection meetings and court hearings. Crucially, the Shelter’s Family Care program provides healing and support in the face of the devastating, colonial practice of removing children from Indigenous families.
