Shannon: It has been over 5 years since I've done any kind of running. I have really loved getting back into it! In particular I've enjoyed training for the 5K with my son, Samuel. How lucky we are to have had such a fun, shared experience during such challenging times! As the Chief Operating Officer of Catholic Charities, I see firsthand the tremendous work our staff are doing for the community. During the pandemic I have been especially impressed by the ways they have transitioned to home delivery of meals, telepractice to provide substance use disorder treatment, and distribution of financial relief to those who have experienced a loss of income. Last Thursday evening, I witnessed a small group of our staff mobilizing to make sure someone in danger of a relapse was able to obtain treatment and services over the holiday weekend. I am proud to run this 5K for the staff, volunteers, and participants of Catholic Charities.
Samuel: My name is Sam and I am 8 years old. I stared the Couch to 5k program because I like the idea of working up to a goal. I like it because it is challenging but fun. I am happy to run the 5K for Catholic Charities because I know they are a good community building and people.
