Hello friends!!
As most of you know, I moved to the D.C. area in July 2018, and have been living/working here ever since. In December, I was accepted into a year-long fellowship called Service Never Sleeps.
Service Never Sleeps is a really cool nonprofit whose mission is to “empower individuals and communities to catalyze social justice through service and Allyship.” I’m really excited to do a lot of listening, a lot of learning, and a whole lot of engaging in the D.C. area over the next year through this fellowship. As a Fellow, I’ll be partnered with and volunteering for a local nonprofit, in addition to attending monthly professional development sessions with the other Fellows. During my undergrad years, I was able to work with and intern at many different nonprofits based in the Los Angeles area and on campus at UCLA, so I’m stoked to be able to do the same in D.C.
The participation fee for the program is $5,000. The program has already generously offered me a scholarship to help cover a large portion of this cost, and I’m hoping to fundraise the rest. If you’re interested, please see below to get to know more about the mission of SNS, and if you’d like to, help cover the rest of the participation fee.
As always - thanks for being my biggest supporters :)
Much love,
Poorna
A little more about Service Never Sleeps:
Service Never Sleeps' vision is a world where equal rights, justice and opportunity are available to all. Our mission is to empower individuals and communities to catalyze social justice through service and Allyship. SNS' signature program is a year of part-time service for young professionals, which builds leading Millennial allies. Fellows are placed with local nonprofits to execute skills-based volunteerism, to help the nonprofits grow in capacity and enhance their missional reach. The process of actively serving and monthly leadership sessions builds active citizens who are committed to social justice for the rest of their careers and lives.
