Now in existence for six years, The Serenity House of Flint continues to provide preventative and recovery support services for substance use and co-occurring disorders for men, women, adolescents, and children. In 2020, the organization served 1,517 participants both virtually and in-person. We are fortunate to have been able to expand our programming by offering yoga and drumming to include children and families. You will experience firsthand the pride we take in supporting recovery. It is our mission to advocate for people in recovery and provide holistic options for those recovering from substance use disorder, codependency, and trauma. Our vision is to free communities of these circumstances.
Of those 1,517 participants, 92% reside in Genesee County. The rate of drug-induced deaths in our county has quadrupled since 2000. This rate is well above the average in the State of Michigan. Furthermore, the data collected by Greater Flint Health Coalition from three hospital systems indicates that the inpatient hospitalizations related to opioid use for all ages increased 7.8% between 2016 and 2017, surpassing the State’s rate. We work with traditional programs, such as New Paths, Families Against Narcotics and Genesee County Prevention Coalition to fight the battle and reduce stigmas.
It is because of generous individuals, companies, and organizations such as yourself, that we are able to serve those desiring change and awareness in recovery. We ask that you make a commitment to support our annual appeal (by choosing a sponsorship package or by making a cash donation). This year, our goal is $50,000, and we hope that you will be able to make a contribution. Your generosity will make a difference in our community by allowing our journey to flourish.
Thank you in advance for your support!
