The evening of Saturday, April 25, 2020, Serene Harbor, a certified domestic violence shelter, suffered a kitchen fire. Fortunately, no one was hurt. However, the damage from the fire, smoke and water required that we close our emergency shelter and temporarily relocate our clients. We were already facing a difficult financial situation with COVID-19 forcing us to cancel or postpone fundraisers. Serene Harbor currently has a fundraising shortfall of $29,000 due to those missed fundraising opportunities. It is our goal to raise funds to assist with the repairs and reconstruction so that we may continue to offer services (at no cost) to victims of domestic violence, and to return our recent shelter clients "home" to us so that our trained and certified advocates can continue working with them to rebuild their lives.
