We could only watch Stuart Little so many times with my little sister here in quarantine. So we thought helping people who are no longer employed because of COVID-19 would be a good use of our time. We had the idea to send a balloon, a camera, and a stuffed monkey into space to raise money for them, while still having fun ourselves.
Here is how it will work.
We will be sending a balloon filled with 20 cubic feet of helium into the earth's stratosphere, equipped with a camera, parachute, and a tracking device.
Additionally, the stuffed monkey-astronaut, Albert III, is being sent up with the balloon.
Every dollar donated will put your name in once for the raffle to win Albert!
The winner will get a real astronaut-monkey that has been in space!
If you donate five dollars, your name will be sent into space and delivered back to you on the return of the vessel.
All the proceeds of this drive will be donated to the Red Cross who in turn are supporting people affected by the virus.
We will release the balloon in Black River Falls, Wisconsin after the quarantine is over and the weather is suitable.
We realize that money is tight for everyone right now, and every dollar helps. If you are unable or don't feel like donating, we would be grateful if you spread the word.
This isn't our first time sending a weather balloon up there. If you want to see our previous success, head to,
Thank you for all your support! - Miles and Jeff Pfaller
