For 2019, let's do something huge in Dorset!! On Friday, August 23rd, runners will run exactly 5,280ft. (1 mile) up Nichols Hill Road in Dorset, a whopping 450ft. elevation gain in that will test their lungs and their legs, both!!! Let's challenge ourselves to raise just a dollar per foot, $5,280 for 2019!!! Pledge $4.50 (Only 1¢ per foot they'll climb!) $52.80, a thin penny for each foot they'll run... or any amount in between!!!
Second Chance Animal Center, established in 1959 as the Bennington County Humane Society, is a private, limited-admission, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that serves the needs of homeless animals as well as the needs of pet owners in our community. They serve all towns in Bennington County (Vermont), sections of Washington and Rensselaer Counties in New York State, and northern areas of Berkshire County in Massachusetts.
Second Chance Animal Center is dedicated to providing compassionate shelter and adoption services for the animals in their care, improving the lives of companion animals in the communities they serve via spay/neuter assistance, humane education, advocacy, and humane investigative advice and assistance to law enforcement agencies.
Dorset Running Festival:
Since its founding in 2018, The Dorset Running Festival has strived to give back to the community as much as the Town of Dorset and surrounding areas have given to runners. In addition to showcasing the beauty of Southern Vermont, the Festival is build around a partnership with Second Chance Animal Center.
With a portion of the proceeds from Saturday and Sundays events going to Second Chance, along with 100% of all Wildcard Friday entries, the Animal Center provides the opportunity to hang out and get a selfie with some adorable, adpotable animals after your race!!
