Second Annual Middlesex Circle Up Against Cancer Fundraiser
Hello Everyone! Middlesex School is excited to announce that we will be fundraising for our second straight year to benefit the American Cancer Society. Under the leadership of Seniors Sophie MacKeigan and Caroline Silk, Middlesex's Campuses Against Cancer club has grown from 25 regular members and 2 committed faculty advisors to around 50 actively committed members. We meet throughout the year to discuss cancer's impacts on our community, as well as to develop ideas to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Earlier this year, we organized a Play for Pink day in which the entire fall athletic community wore pink sweatbands and we held a bake sale. This spring, On May 5th, 2018, Campuses Against Cancer will be holding our second annual memorial walk, called Circle Up Against Cancer from 9-11pm on campus. We will be selling and giving out different colored wristbands to represent support for different types of cancer. In addition, we will be distributing paper lanterns to decorate our school oval with so we can illuminate campus as we walk. New this year, we will be holding a Mindfulness meditation at the beginning of the event, led by Doug Worthen. If you are an alumnus or have a connection to Middlesex but are not currently in the community, you are welcome to donate in honor of someone and we can and will read the names of those mentioned during our meditation/Quaker meeting before the event. We will also be selling treats and grilled food, playing music, and empowering the school to walk for a cause that expands far beyond the gates of our community, while also touching the hearts of many Middlesex students and faculty. While this event is only open to the current Middlesex community, the members of the club felt it appropriate to expand our net of potential donors to family, friends, Middlesex alumni, and peers who would like to help fund Middlesex's Campuses Against Cancer Club. All the proceeds from this page will go directly to the American Cancer Society, as well as the profits from out t-shirt and grilled food sales on the night of the event. Last year, we were able to raise over $6,000 and we are incredibly humbled by the support we have received and are excited to continue receiving donations that will be given directly to ACS on behalf of the club and the school. We appreciate any and all support we can get and thank you all in advance for your donations and continued support of our organization.
