Students in the US Virgin Islands need your help.
SEAT Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center (IEC) 501(c)(3) recently hosted a coding workshop for students in the US Virgin Islands (USVI). Approximately 90% of the high school students that applied for the program did not have any exposure to computer programming.
Critical Need: Impact of Covid-19 and Hurricanes: The World Travel & Tourism Council data shows that the USVI ranks #4 on the list of countries that are most reliant on Tourism. 69% of the USVI jobs in 2019 were dependent on the travel and tourism industry. Covid-19 has caused major economic damage to the USVI. In addition, hurricanes have previously devastated the islands resulting in a negative impact on the tourist industry.
Technology training programs for the youth are more important than ever, to ensure that the youth of the USVI have options to prepare them for the jobs of the future. THE STEAM Incubator is SEAT IEC’s philanthropic initiative for the youth of the USVI. The STEAM Incubator seeks to transform the lives of students by preparing them for the jobs of the future.
Call To Action: SEAT IEC regularly hosts technology workshops and we need your help to expand our reach and make a greater impact. Please donate to SEAT IEC's The STEAM Incubator to help us close the opportunity gap in STEM and entrepreneurship for students in the USVI. Your contribution, no matter how large or small, will have a big impact on the lives of USVI youth.
