SDPD Honor 1 is a Mobile Memorial to the fallen men and women of the San Diego Police Department. SDPD Honor 1 was created in partnership with the San Diego Police Department and the San Diego Police Officer's Association in 2015. Soon after its completion, the SDPD Memorial Vehicle was driven to the California Peace Officer's Memorial in Sacramento, California and then to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, DC.
While crossing the United States, SDPD Honor 1 stopped at over a dozen local and state memorials to fallen law enforcement officers and met with law enforcement officers and surviving family members to remind them of the nobility of public service and that the sacrifice of their coworkers and loved ones will never be forgotten.
Following the line-of-duty death of SDPD Officer Jonathan DeGuzman in July 2016, SDPD Honor 1 was again mobilized to represent the fallen when Officer DeGuzman's name was added to the memorial walls in Sacramento and Washington, DC in May 2017. Again, SDPD Honor 1 visited a dozen more law enforcement memorials spreading the word that Heroes Live Forever!
To date, SDPD Honor 1 has visited the memorials to fallen law enforcement officers in 27 states. With your help, we hope to visit share the word of remembrance and honor at memorials in nine more states - New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Delaware.
Due to the constraints of the municipal budget, this mission can not be accomplished without the financial support of others. Our goal is to provide for fuel and lodging expenses for SDPD Honor 1 and its crew as it makes its planned 7,500 mile round trip across the United States.
The San Diego Law Enforcement Emerald Society (SDLEES) has agreed to support this effort and coordinate outside fundraising. Any surplus of donations will be split between the Widows & Orphans Fund of the San Diego Police Officers Association and the Southern California chapter of the Concerns of Police Survivors .
Those making donations over $50 will receive an SDPD Honor 1 patch and donations over $100 will also receive a limited production SDPD Honor 1 Challenge Coin.
