August 23, 2017 was the first day of a new school year in Leeds, North Dakota where Scott Lindgren served as a physical education teacher, athletic director and basketball coach alongside his wife, Natalie, who taught the first grade.
That morning, while out for a walk with his dog, Thome, Scott collapsed several times. When he made it back in the house, his wife noticed all the blood and knew that something wasn't right, so she called their neighbors Kirk and Janet for help. Kirk, being an EMT, called for an ambulance right away.
Although Scott survived the 30-minute ambulance ride, he sadly passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital. Doctors determined his death was the result of an undetected DVT (blood clot in his leg) that traveled to his lungs (PE). He was only 30 years old. Tragically, he also left behind a nine-month-old baby girl, Everly, who was his pride and joy.
Scott’s friends and family remember his eagerness to help anyone in need. He would go above and beyond to ensure someone else's happiness. Scott was always quick with a joke and had an infectious smile that was contagious to all around.
His family would like to use Scott's story as a way to help raise awareness about blood clots and help prevent other families from suffering a similar and inconceivable loss.
