This will be St. Croix Montessori's first year attending the Montessori Model UN conference in New York City. Our delegation of five students (6th-8th grade) is excited to be representing the People's Republic of Bangladesh. They have been rigorously preparing for months for the four-day conference, a sophisticated role-playing exercise whereby students from across the country and the world come together to find realistic solutions to contemporary world issues. The conference ends with a visit to the actual United Nations headquarters, where student delegates occupy the seats of their real-world counterparts for a vote on their resolutions. Formal dress and adherence to procedure are part of what by many accounts is a life changing experience!
We are calling on YOU to help make this experience a reality. The students to this point have raised $1,500 on their own, but we still have a long way to go. Between lodging, food, registration fees, and airfare, it adds up pretty quickly. If we cast the net wide, we are hoping to meet our goal of $10,000. Please donate what you can, but even more importantly, SHARE as much as possible! Email, social media... there is really no "wrong" way to get the word out. We will post updates with our progress as the conference approaches.
