We're raising funds to support scholarships for the next generation of capacity builders.
The 2019 Alliance for Nonprofit Management Annual Capacity Builder’s Conference in St. Louis is a one-of-a-kind, opportunity for capacity builders of every kind: consultants, coaches, funders, academics, executives, you name it, to come together. The conference provides the chance to convene, dialogue, learn, shape and advance our field for the good of the nonprofits and communities we serve. The three-day event includes presentation opportunities with local nonprofits, work-sessions for our Affinity & Interest Groups, twenty-plus workshop sessions curated for capacity builders by capacity builders, and thought provoking plenary sessions.
Our 2019 theme is "Facing Power and Privilege in Capacity Building." At the core, power is about one’s ability to create the change they desire. The challenge begins when we have competing desires and one person or organization inherently has more power than the other. That’s where privilege steps in. As capacity builders, each engagement with a client forces us to confront questions of power and privilege. Whether we are helping with program evaluation, facilitating strategy, or guiding fund development efforts, we are faced with questions of how power is being used. Join us in St. Louis to explore questions of power and privilege in the sector and how we as capacity builders navigate, expose, and influence these issues.
