SBP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to shrinking the time between disaster and recovery. SBP New Jersey specifically works on rebuilding homes in bohtb the Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
On October 29th, 2012 Hurricane Sandy devastated the northeast. Nearly six years after Superstorm Sandy, inadequate insurance payouts and contractor fraud has left thousands of New Jersey families displaced or living in their storm damaged home.
SBP's New Jersey operation serves low- to moderate-income residents with a special focus on families with small children, the elderly, disabled persons, war veterans, and the under- and uninsured.
Many of our homeowners are victims of contactor fraud leaving SBP there last hope to returning home. We are able to assist these families by using volunteers, AmeriCorps members and donor dollars. This allows us reduce the cost of construction and then bridge the funding gap. With your help we can continue to bring families home!
Our clients are hard-working people who achieved the American dream of homeownership, only to have it stripped away first by a disaster and then by fraudulent contractors, insufficient insurance payouts, forced mortgage payoffs and inadequate federal aid. These families are living in overcrowded temporary housing, paying mortgage on a gutted house, or living in a gutted, unsafe home. Every day that passes, these homeowners and their families suffer needlessly, coming closer to their breaking point. When you donate to SBP, you are eliminating unnecessary suffering by helping those impacted by disasters to rebuild and recover promptly and efficiently.
