The Spelling Bee of Canada (SBOC) is proud to announce a new fundraising initiative - the 1st Bi-Annual SBOC Spell-a-thon to encourage community engagement to help raise funds in support of student literacy and spelling bee initiatives across Canada.

The event will take place over the course of one week between Saturday, October 10th at 12:00pm to the following Saturday, October 17th at 11:59am.

What is a Spell-a-thon?

A Spell-a-thon is a week-long challenge to learn how to spell as many new words as you can while raising funds for youth literacy through sponsor pledges.

Example: Similarly to a walk-a-thon, you will get friends and family to sponsor you for participating, but instead of walking 5 kilometres, you will be learning to spell words!

Register here to participate in SBOC's Spell-a-thon and set the goal of new words you want to learn.

Event Details:

From Saturday morning until the end of the event, we will have student participants pledge to learn how to spell new, higher-level words while collecting pledge donations from family and friend sponsors. They will keep track of new words they learn how to spell over the course of the week.

On Saturday, October 17 at 12:00pm ET, SBOC will host a Spell-a-thon live-streamed event on Facebook to close out the event. The live stream will feature a message from our founder, a literacy specialist guest speaker, and more!

We are so excited for everyone to join us for our first ever Spell-a-thon!
