Make a donation to help youth in crisis!
YES to YOUTH - Montgomery County Youth Services provides crisis counseling, shelter programs, and prevention services to strengthen families, keep youth in school and prepare them to be productive citizens.
We currently house 15 youth (boys and girls, ages 10-17) in our BridgeWay Emergency Youth Shelter. We are in the process of expanding our shelter to be able to house 30 youth. This means we are increasing our capacity by 100%!
Each year, we have to turn away 1,200 youth in our community because our shelter is full. The youth who come to our shelter are homeless and have been victims of sex-trafficking, abuse, and neglect. They have been abandoned and turned away by their families and made to believe they are worthless, unloved, and unwanted. By the summer of 2020 we want to open our doors to 15 more youth, show them they are cared for, and give them an opportunity to have better futures!
It takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a community to change a child's life and we NEED your help to do this!
Our youth will need a dining room table and chairs to have their meals together, like a family. You can help provide three (3) dining room tables and 60 dining room chairs (one set for each cottage and one for our multipurpose building). Then our youth can experience what it is like to sit family style, in a clean area and have a meal together.
Our youth will need individual nightstands to have in their own space and use to hold the few items they do have and that which is most precious to them. They will need lockers to know their valuables are safe. You can help provide 30 nightstands and 12 lockers for our kids.
Some of the youth we help are in need of medication. We assist them in seeing doctors and receiving the proper medical attention. Some medication will need to be refrigerated and you can help provide three (3) mini refrigerators to store their meds (one for each cottage and one for our multipurpose building).
And just like any child, our youth will need a space where they can come together to interact, socialize, and relax. We want our youth to feel like they are in a home. We want them to feel they are home and you can help give them this space by providing three (3) living room sets (one for each cottage and one for our multipurpose building).
This is the moment our community, YOU, can show our youth that they are worth it. You can show them that even though they may not have come from the best of situations, their community wants to give them better futures. The cost of these items total well over $80,000, but we are asking our community to help us meet a fundraising goal of $10,000, it will be a good start!
We have faith we will get there, and with your help, WE can change lives together!
