Sawyerville Day Camp is a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama, working through scholarships, summer camps, and summer programs to improve race relations in Alabama. These programs foster community, honest conversation, and provide necessary resources to improve the lives of those living in rural poverty.
Imagine riding the bus to school in the summer and BEING SO STOKED!!! You are about to spend all day with old friends making new friends, crafts, learning how to swim, dancing, and playing games! Sabol was lucky enough to be one of these new friends as she spent four summers working with SDC as a counselor and as the liaison for Yellowhammer Literacy Project's culminating retreat.
During the largest Civil Rights Movement of Alex and Sabol's lives, they ask you to donate to a program that has boots on the ground and has influence in a community deeply important to Sabol. She's worn these boots, and she'll be the first to say, they are dancing their way to justice and love.
