The historic Hotel James in Palatka Florida needs your support. Designed by famed architect Henry John Klutho, the hotel was recently placed on the Local and National Register of Historic Places. This stunning example of Prairie Style architecture, shuttered for over 30 years fell into a sad state of disrepair. However, the City of Palatka, Palatka Community Redevelopment Agency, and the new owners are committed to restoring this grand ole dame to her original glory as a boutique hotel with destination restaurants, shops, and a roof top observation deck. Be a part of the first phase of this extraordinary project by helping us reach an initial goal of $25,000.00 These funds will be used solely and completely to bring the exterior of the 1st floor back to life with façade cleanup, doors, window repair and lighting. A contribution of any amount will go toward the historic preservation of one of America’s most architecturally important properties. See the pictures below of what the hotel once was, along with renderings of our vision of what it will be once again. This project is considered the single most important undertaking in launching the long overdue revitalization of one of the USA’s most historic small towns. Nestled on the banks of the magnificent St Johns River, the City of Palatka has perhaps the richest untold story of American history one could imagine. We want to tell that story. Restoring the Hotel James will be a key part of that undertaking. The hotel was a keystone structure during the decades of Palatka’s glory days. The goal is to once again bring the City of Palatka back to its own well-deserved prominence by rehabilitating one of its most elegant and important destination properties, The Hotel James! Be a part of helping us achieve this goal by making a contribution to The Hotel James GoFundMe page. Would you like to hear more?
