Please join me in making a difference. I'm raising money to benefit Seniors and Youth Support Services Inc, (SAYSS) and your donation will help make an impact.
SAYSS owner, Wanda Johnson saw a need to help underserved seniors in Maryland receive help at home with meal preparation, ordinary housework, transportation to the doctor's office, companionship, mobility assistance, and grooming. I knew that I could make a difference by opening the only non-profit organization in the State of Maryland that helps seniors receive quality dependable help at home for lower costs. I don't mind sacrificing 35% of my profit margin in order to bridge the gap for seniors who have minimal funds left over for in home non-medical companionship care. "It brings joy to my heart when I know that my services are a blessing to others who otherwise would not been able to afford the care they need". The nightmare of my life took place when the Pandemic came.
I will never forget approximately a year ago when the Pandemic first hit. The participants receiving our care at home declined from receiving our services. SAYSS was losing one to two participants a week and the bills were accumulating. I applied for grants but in most cases funds were exhausted by the time I could submit one. I took out a small loan but that barely caught me up in office rent The loan helped a few participants to continue with services at low cost but all bills associated with sustaining the business was starting to fall behind. I applied on behalf of SAYSS to various funding sources like grants, and assistance programs including the NAACP grant but was denied. SAYSS gave a silent auction but minimal funds were raised. One late evening I fell to my knees and asked God why is it that I have not gotten the response that I have desperately reached out for? Our business should not suffer when we are trying to help those who can not help themselves.
SAYSS has come to the realization that if there's no support from our community not only will our doors be unable to remain open but we will not be able to continue providing the care that our undeserved seniors most desperately need. Your donation will bring life again to the Saving our Seniors Program which means seniors will have help again with getting assistance at home and SAYSS can level out the bills necessary to run our office proficiently. Even in the midst of a Pandemic our seniors still need the help.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and I thank you in advance for your support.
