The San Fernando Valley Counseling Center has stood for 48 years. For nearly half a century, SFVCC has provided counseling and mental health services to the San Fernando Valley community. Since 2011 more than 3440 clients have come to our Center to receive the help they need. Last year, in 2018 the Center had approximately 6200 individual visits.
SFVCC is one of the only locations in San Fernando Valley providing training and supervision to students studying to become licensed therapists. In total, we’ve trained over 900 therapists since 1971. As a training ground, SFVCC is laying the foundation for professionals to serve their communities and providing much needed affordable mental health services to underserved communities in San Fernando Valley. Our approach counters the stigma associated with mental health by making it accessible and openly talking about mental health.
Sadly, we are faced with challenging times. With the rising costs of rents in Los Angeles, we have struggled to keep our doors open, despite the fact that the need for our services continues to increase in the community. We are one of the lowest cost mental health service providers in the San Fernando Valley, and we currently serve over 300 clients who need our support.
We cannot do this alone. Addressing mental health issues in San Fernando Valley requires the help of our community. We are asking for your partnership in supporting SFVCC’s mission to provide counseling and mental health services.
With your help we can maintain a safety network of counselors to respond to the stigma and greet those who are in need of our service.
Here are some of the ways that your dollar can support our work.
● $100 helps four individuals receive mental health therapy.
● $250 gives 10 parents the opportunity to learn at our parenting classes.
● $1,000 provides two trainees with supervision for 16 weeks.
