During this time we’ve been completely overwhelmed by the support we've received, not only from our community but throughout the United States. It's been unbelievable, I can't tell you how many tears of happiness you've caused us to shed, and since we consider ourselves the manliest of men it's not an easy thing to do. We are beyond grateful. We will continue to be here for our Veterans and everyone of you. You all saved us, and we can’t say thank you enough. We will continue to be here for years to come. we’ll see you at our 60th and 70th anniversary party. From all the members of VFW POST 7109
We at post 7109 are so humbled by the outpouring of support we have received. We have been overwhelmed by your generosity. In an effort for transparency we wanted to update you on the things that we will be doing with the money we are receiving. The bulk of the money will go towards paying the bills to keep the doors open: payroll, insurance, electricity, gas, water, maintenance & upkeep of the building, and internet. A portion will be used to help with the immediate needs of the veterans in our community. The average age of our membership is 72, and we would like to make sure that our members are supplied with masks, gloves, and sanitation materials so they can impart their wisdom on our younger members. Finally, the remainder of the money will be used to purchase non perishable food items that can be used to help supplement members of our community that are in need.
Due to mandated closure of nonessential businesses our post complied with the recommendations of the CDC and our federal government. This means our employees are out of work. Any revenue we make from hall rentals and our sales from the canteen have ceased to exist. The VFW is a nonprofit, and we still have bills to pay and would like to be able to help our employees. We have bartenders, janitors, and kitchen staff who now have to go without a paycheck for AT LEAST the next two weeks. Most of our employees are bartenders here and they rely on tips to make ends meet! (Their hourly wages are minimal for their positions, and the fact that we are unable to pay them during this time may have a huge impact on their lives!) We appreciate your support. To our community we are grateful and forever in your debt. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. To every veteran out there, past, present, and future, we thank you for your service and sacrifices! To every family member of a veteran, we thank you for your sacrifices as well.
