What is Citizenship to You?
For years, citizenship has been Hecho en CARECEN (made in CARECEN).
For immigrants, citizenship is the final step in their immigration journey, and a chance to fully realize their American Dream. CARECEN has supported immigrants through the citizenship process since 1991, and in the last 5 years over 1,000 have naturalized through our program.
Now, citizenship is at risk. On September 30th the citizenship program funding will end, jeopardizing the American Dream of hundreds of aspiring US citizens, including those who hope to vote in the next presidential elections.
Help us ensure that aspiring citizens have a safe, welcoming space where they can benefit from CARECEN’s citizenship classes, affordable legal services and individualized support.
Donate today, and keep citizenship in reach for thousands of people.
How Your Donation Helps
Last year, our program served 645 immigrants with over 1,000 units of service, including:
- 414 citizenship eligibility screenings
- 207 applications filed with full legal representation
- 80 fee waivers filed for those who could not afford the $725 filing fee
- 282 registered for class, and 88 took multiple class sessions
- 50 clients received interpretation services at their USCIS interview.
In 2018, we're already on pace to exceed these numbers. Your donation helps fund a legal service provider and program coordinator, the two key positions to keep this program alive.
