Wat Promwachirayan was established in 2003 in a house in Elk River, Minnesota as a completely volunteer based facility. It was a small Temple where the garage was used as the orientation hall. We soon realized that we could make a bigger impact being closer to the Twin Cities.
In 2017, we decided to move to St. Louis Park, Minnesota to be closer to our congregation and to have more opportunity to connect with the community with cultural events and programs with the help of our volunteers.
The Temple is not only a place of worship but also a community space that hosts events to bring unity within the Thai and Southeast community by highlighting cultural events and to continue to develop intercultural relationships in the moais of ethnicities represented in the Twin Cities.
COVID-19 has eliminated the ability for our community to connect with the Monks, our neighbors and experience our cultural events. We have reduced all operational expenses to cope with these difficult times but our minimum commitments of utilities, mortgages and care for the Monks are costly.
The events and donations allow us to continue to do what we love and without these events, our income will suffer immensely. In order to make it through these difficult times and to continue to be a community space for worship, meditation and cultural events and programs, we are requesting your help. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
