The BASE as an organization shifts to change the mindset about what it takes for urban youth to succeed, and to build a movement of citizens committed to their success. Where others see “at risk-underserved-disadvantaged,” we see talent, hard work, and dedication, and we develop those assets. We are showing the nation that Urban Talent is American Talent.
The BASE serves 1,500 student-athletes ages 6-19 annually, primarily from the Boston neighborhoods of Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan.
The BASE uses sports as a passion point to connect with young people and ultimately put them on pathways to higher education and meaningful careers. We combine best-in-class sports training and competition with academic and career resources. All BASE programming and services are offered free of charge.
Help us provide immediate assistance to BASE families and ensure full programming when it is safe to reopen our doors!
Food Security: Grocery gift cards will provide some relief until it is safe to resume our Saturday mobile market. The BASE is supporting efforts to provide healthy meals to 600 families by being a food storage, packing, and distribution site, with staff volunteering.
College Deposits: Funding supports up to $500 for every BASE high school senior matriculating to college to cover deposits.
BASE Matriculation Night: We may have to postpone this year’s Matriculation Night event, but we still want to provide laptops, comforters, and gift cards to our college-bound seniors.
BASE Academic & Career Institute: Funding supports academic tutoring, SAT/ACT test prep, college visits, career readiness workshops, college and career fairs, and professional days.
BASE Sports Academy: Funding provides all student athletes with uniforms, equipment, instruction, camps and clinics, tournament fees, and local/national travel opportunities.
General Operating Support: Funding supports the operation our state of the art facility in the heart of Roxbury, and the BASE family of instructors, mentors, tutors, and staff who dedicate their personal and professional lives to providing opportunity for our urban youth.
