I first met Bashir in 2005 while visiting International Orphan Care's schools in Afghanistan. Bashir was an English teacher at International Orphan Care's Mir Mohammad Youssof Vocational School in Jalalabad, Afghanistan.
Bashir has remained a personal friend and a friend of other members of the Board of Directors of International Orphan Care. We have encouraged him to improve his skills and education.
When Bashir left the school for a better job with a contractor to USAID Afghanistan, we were pleased with his success. When his contract ended and he decided to improve his job skills by pursuing a degree at Khorasaan University in Jalalabad, we committed to support his education. We have invested in Bashir's future because we know him to be a good man, a good husband, a good father, a good friend.
Recently, Bashir has been experiencing seizures and has been unable to work or complete his studies. In March, he was diagnosed with a brain lesion and surgery was performed to remove a left frontal tumor. A histopathology report diagnosed a low-grade glioma, which will require radiation and chemotherapy.
Bashir needs financial assistance for the medical treatment recommended for him. He is also the sole financial support for his 5 children, his wife, and his father. Any contribution you can make will be welcome!
