As most of my friends and family know, I love art in all of its forms... from opera to graffiti, architecture to Greek tragedies, and everything in between. That said, I believe the art form that is the most transformative, that most has the power to truly create change in society.... is FILM. Watching a movie can open our minds to other worlds, other cultures, other experiences, in a way that no other form of art can. It brings people from all walks of life together to share in one emotion at the same time. Film tells the stories that a society needs to hear and often gives us an escape from our own lives when we need it.
The Philadelphia Film Society has brought the art of film to Philadelphia for 25 years though the annual film festival, theater venues, and educational programming. No industry has been hit harder during this time than the theater industry, and PFS is feeling it devastatingly right now. In order to preserve this vital artform in our city, I am asking my friends and family to join me in support of PFS!!!!
It is my goal to reach $3,000 in donations from my friends and family, please donate whatever you can and help me reach my goal. With your help we can keep PFS afloat until we can go back to normal operations. We can keep the Film Festival this year (with a drive in theater in the city!!!), and we can keep our theaters open until new releases come out again.
