First.....We hope that everyone is staying safe and well, and we truly wish you the very best.
And now...We had planned to do a fundraiser in early March and obviously that had to stop. We are still in need of funds. Now more than ever before. And unfortunately on a larger scale-because now we face closing for good.
As a tuition driven school, a few of our current parents have been wonderful paying a month of tuition while their children are at home. Still, our school is small, we need to increase enrollment, but we cannot enroll any more children until we are out of crisis...and it may not end until June. This leaves us without funds very, very soon.
We need help now.
Some families are "essential" workers, and can not work from home, so we are here for them. We don't want to go anyplace.
We want to be here when this is over. When this is over, the children will need us more than ever. We want to be able to help children this summer, who-by that time- will have been out of elementary school for many months.
We want to help pre-school through third graders, "catch up" in a small environment, and slowly get used to being around others again. We can enroll older children who need us, and in turn keep our school going.
We want to ease children (and parents) into school again. It will not be easy on any of us. But our small school, and our kindness curriculum, and caring teachers, can help do just that. Being around groups of people, will be challenging at first. But our little school can help-with that and help with other emotional "fallout" from Covid-19.
As a clinical psychologist, I have so very many concerns about "Life after Covid-19". My main concern is that we want to be able to remain here in order to work with children. We want to help them get their lives back on track. In order to do that, we need to be here.
As an unpaid volunteer here, I have so far-been able to keep our assistant teacher on payroll and our one volunteer (aside from myself) helping out as well. However, with May and June approaching, I am not sure we can hold out.
I am doing everything in my power to apply for loans, grants, etc in order to remain here. But those things are not "givens". And they won't arrive on time.
The only thing I can count on.... is help from people who want to make sure that a beautiful little yellow school in a park, continues to thrive.
Please help our little non-profit.
Love and health-
