Operated by the First Tee of Greater Philadelphia, our mission is to positively impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
The First Tee acquired John F. Bryne not only to provide access to golf and life skills education for the kids in Northeast Philadelphia but to also save public golf from closing for all golfers in the community. As any golfer will attest, the lessons learned in golf apply to life as well. Having a facility where students and golfers can have access 364 days a year is paramount to enhance learning, skills and recreational resources for people of all ages.
To continue to ensure equal access and opportunity for our community members, The First Tee will invest over $600,000 of funds in John F. Byrne plus an additional $400,000 of in-kind work/service into the property over the next 3 years. During this time, you will see dramatic change and progress to provide players with an enjoyable experience and one the community, City of Philadelphia and First Tee are proud of.
The First Tee of Greater Philadelphia is a youth development organization (501c3), serving over 25,000 kids annually at 17 different locations and at over 76 elementary schools and youth service organizations. The First Tee is a public charity who raises over $1.5 million annually to make programs possible for kids of all privileges. The First Tee also runs Walnut Lane Golf Club where a similar revitalization has taken place with positive results.
Any donations will help us reach our goals. Together and with your support, more children in the area will graduate high school and continue on to post secondary education.
The team members at The First Tee of Greater Philadelphia thank you for helping to put our young people on a successful life path.
