Protecting Glacier’s Lynx Population

This landmark study provides actionable science about the distribution, habitat, and travel patterns of lynx throughout the park. The Canada lynx is listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act and will likely be heavily impacted by climate change. Using noninvasive video cameras (camera traps), researchers at Glacier survey lynx throughout the park to understand where they are living. With the help of volunteers from Glacier's citizen science program, camera trap footage generates crucial data. Funding for this project will allow the park to expand volunteer involvement and to install more camera traps throughout the park.
