July is Sarcoma Awareness Month. Since I cant find any events happening in my area I’ve decided to start a fundraiser in memory of my late husband.
My husband recently lost his battle with Ewing’s sarcoma this past April. He first was diagnosed in 2007 and had a long hard road with many treatments and surgeries. After a couple years of that he was finally in remission. Went on to living a normal life; finishing college, starting his career in Human Resources, meeting a girl, getting married and living a happy simple life... He started not feeling well around the Holidays in 2017 and finally made an appointment to see his oncologist to see if something was wrong. After being in remission for around 10 years the cancer had returned and had metastasized. It had spread throughout his body and he started treatment right away; radiation, clinical trials, 4 different types of chemotherapy. Unfortunately none of the treatments would shrink the biggest tumor that had taken over one of his Lungs. He fought very hard for just over a year but his body couldn’t take it anymore. He passed away April 3, 2019, 3 days before his 32nd birthday. He just wanted to get back to our normal everyday lives and to be cured of cancer.
I hope that one day we can find a cure for sarcoma/bone cancer and all cancer so patients, family members, friends and collegues don’t have to go through all this pain and heartbreak! Let’s try to help find a cure by donating to this great cause and hopefully save lives. Maybe we can organize a walk/run event in the Raleigh NC for this July to support Sarcoma Awareness month!!
