I'm running a half marathon! Immediate thought: what in the world have I gotten myself into.
I want this race to be special, so I'm running to raise money for the Huntington's Disease Society of America. Our family knows more about HD than I ever cared to know. After he was diagnosed, my dad started running. 15 marathons and countless other races later, he's convinced that running has allowed him to stay as healthy as he has. I may not ever run a full marathon (let alone 15), but I am running these 13.1 miles as much for my dad as I am for myself.
Hopefully these race-day strides can be my small way to raise awareness about HD and to contribute to the research being done to better understand it and, someday, find a cure.
