Break the Cycle 200 (BTC 200) uses epic one-day 200-mile athletic events to raise awareness and funds to break the cycle of human trafficking in the U.S., SE Asia and even more alarming, right here in Iowa. During this event I'll be challenged physically, emitionally and spiritually. Ten of us are going to make up the first female team to tackle the 200 mile run relay.
I'm being compelled to do this to help create conversations and awareness about human trafficking. It may get hard, uncomfortable, lonely, and even scary at times but these are feeling victims face EVERY day.
-Human tafficking is a form of modern day slavery.
-Studies have shown victims ages 13-17 are purchased more frequently then 18-24. I have heard of a victim case involving a 8 month old.
-Stop the demand, stop the problem. Buyers are generally married, white men, who earn over120k annually, and have a graduate degree. It's happening within a mile of you.
-Within 24 hours 75% of runaways will be picked up by a trafficker.
I could use your help in raising awareness and at this time specifically raising funds for this 200 mile campaign.
