On Sunday April 29th, 2018, we will be running The National Women's Half marathon in Washington DC. This race means more to us than just crossing the finish line.
The day of the race will mark 6 months and 3 days since I lost my dad, Dennis Hodgson, to Metastatic Ocular Melanoma. My dad ran many miles & marathons in his lifetime. One of his most gratifying moments as a runner & veteran was running the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C. Although our half marathon won't nearly come close to what my dad accomplished in his lifetime, I couldn't imagine any other city I'd rather run 13.1 specifically for this cause.
Ocular Melanoma has no cure & truly no treatments that come close to saving lives once the cancer starts spreading. The Ocular Melanoma Foundation's mission is to accelerate and enhance scientific research, advocacy, and awareness of ocular melanoma and to provide education and support to patients, their families, and healthcare professionals.
We hope you will join us in supporting a great cause and remembering an even better person. Here's to Dennis, every mile is for you.
LOVE,
Izzy Hodgson and Sarah Kamya
