The Easter seals Wisconsin FARM Program has achieved enormous success and serves as the model for similar programs nationwide. Created in 1992, the FARM Program helps farmers return to farming after a disabling accident or illness. Rehabilitiation Specialists visit the farm and together, with the farmer, look over the entire operation, evaluating buildings, terrain, and equipment while making note of each task that needs to be performed. The Specilaist then creates an individualized plan recommending modifications to equipment that will enable the farmer to continue to do their job. Since its inception the FARM Program has had a 97% success rate and has helped over 7,000 farmers with disabilities continue to farm, achieving independence and the ability to support themselves and their families.
