Hi Friends and Family,
Many of you may know that I am a member of Madison Council, a group of dedicated young adults committed to advancing the mission of Madison Square Boys & Girls Club.
For over 135 years, Madison's mission has been to serve the most under-resourced areas of NYC by providing the children a safe, stable, and positive place to grow. This is especially critical now. COVID-19 is disproportionately impacting low-income neighborhoods in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan.
While the Clubhouse doors may be closed, Madison has been using Virtual Afterschool Programming (VAP) to continue academic and social support. Through the immense changes brought on by COVID-19, Madison has continued to be a beacon of support and opportunity for all of the young people who turn to them.
As Madison’s programming continues to evolve during this time, Madison Council is stepping up to own a part of the response to this crisis. Madison Council is committing to raise $10,000 to support Madison’s COVID-19 response efforts. My goal is to raise $1,000.
How can you help? I, like most of you, am working remotely. I ask you to donate what you would have spent on your morning coffee or your lunch, pre-pandemic. A donation of any size will have an impact and I will be so grateful for your support.
Your support is helping us to:
- Provide virtual afterschool programming - social and academic support
- Assist families with challenges such as limited home internet access and lack of devices
- Serve as an information hub for our Madison community - directing members and their families to food and other resources
