Dear Family and Friends,
As some of you may know, I am participating in Ironman Louisville on October 14th. An Ironman is a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride and topped off with a 26.2 mile run. I won’t be alone - there will be about 2,500 – 3,000 other people swimming the Ohio River, biking through horse country, and running through the streets of Louisville. This will be my second Ironman, having completed Ironman Arizona way back in 2008 when I had a little more hair and no kids!
In conjunction with my training, I have decided to fundraise on behalf of Sandy Hook Promise ("SHP"), a great charity that focuses on preventing gun and other forms of violence and victimization before it happens by educating and mobilizing youth and adults on mental health and wellness programs that identify, intervene, and help at-risk individuals.
SHP is led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut on December 14, 2012 that claimed the lives of 20 first-graders and 6 educators. SHP is a moderate, above-the-politics organization that supports sensible non-policy and policy solutions that protect children and prevent gun violence.
Please consider making a donation to this great charity and thank you in advance for your support!
Best,
David
