Sandstone Initiative was established in 2017 to improve the quality, access, and sustainability of education for vulnerable children in Livingstone, Zambia, through the development and support of innovative community-based projects. The organization is currently working on a new project to construct eight classrooms and a set of bathrooms capable of serving 280 students. This project is called Sanstone's Compassion Campus. To complete it, we need approximately $2,800 to cover the material and labor costs of our local construction team.. This non-profit has been very successful from the start. Throughout the years, with the help of a particularly generous donation from San Diego State Rotoract Club, Sandstone has installed 18 window panes at a local community school (a school built for the most impoverished children and managed entirely by volunteers). These panes sealed up the building just before the winter term when temperatures in the classroom would regularly reach lows between 45 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit (7-10 degrees Celsius). We have also donated over $2000 worth of soccer balls, jerseys, swings, jump ropes, and more with the help of a representative of the Every Kid Plays Foundation, Nick Zalkow, along with awarding $488 to three schools funding to help a combined 12 teachers. Sandstone has completed a few other projects and is managing several others to benefit the educational system for the helpless children who have been affected by the absence of supplies in Livingstone, Zambia.
