On August 28, in the pre-dawn hours, I'll be joining 7 other cyclists on the first leg of a 5-day, 500-mile ride from NYC to Niagara Falls -- all to raise funds and awareness in support of Sanctuary for Families. Sanctuary is the city's largest provider of holistic services and advocacy on behalf of survivors of domestic violence and trafficking -- providing shelter, legal services, counseling and job training to over 10,000 adults and children annually. It's also been my professional home for the past 15 years.
This is the second year I've participated in this ride. I'm coming back for more because over many years of working for Sanctuary, I never cease to be amazed and inspired by the work my colleagues do to help thousands of abuse survivors establish independent lives in the wake of abuse and exploitation. Sanctuary is home to the nation's largest domestic violence legal program; an innovative, high-impact mental health program; a pioneering, living-wage career training program; and a staff that speaks over 30 languages. The agency consistently receives 4 stars on Charity Navigator -- the highest possible rating.
I'M TRYING TO RAISE $5,000 AND I'VE GOT A LONG WAY TO GO TO REACH THAT GOAL. CAN YOU HELP?
Note that this ride is entirely SELF-FUNDED, so every dollar raised goes directly to Sanctuary -- not to fancy hotels or buckets of Gatorade for the riders.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT!
