Hi! If you know me, you probably know at least a little bit about my passion for advocating for and championing the rights of women.
Maybe you’ve heard me talk about my experience interning at a shelter for victims of domestic violence and the Broome County Sheriff's Office during my senior year at Binghamton. Or, maybe you’ve heard me rant about domestic violence cases that are buzzed about on the news. OR, perhaps most likely, maybe you've watched me (through your hands shielding your mortified faces) as I stood up to (okay, yelled at) a boy, vigilante style, who was treating a girl disrespectfully at a party in high school or college.
Well, 2018 has led me to the pro bono counsel at a wonderful organization based in NY called Sanctuary for Families. Yes, pro bono, but no, I'm not a secret JD - it’s a group of super cool lawyers who, to my benefit, decided to open the group up this year to those with other areas of expertise!
So, in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness month (which is this month!), I am fundraising for the organization. I would be forever grateful if you would kindly donate whatever you feel comfortable with (seriously, can be 5 bucks!). Your donation, big or small, will help support and empower survivors of gender violence to achieve safety and independence from abusers.
