Please, share this website link with anyone you know. Together, we can change cancer!
During this pandemic, everyone is stressed and anxious. Some people forget that cancer is still out there and cancer patients need us most right now! Just recently, my mom went to the store to get groceries for a family with a little boy who had cancer. The family was afraid to go out because of their son's compromised immune system. The family was also struggling because of panic buying and not being able to find simple things for their son such as baby wipes. Cancer patients are at risk during this pandemic and still have to go through treatment. They need us more than ever now! LLS is working to provide support for cancer patients during this time. Please, donate to help cancer patients now!
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Samantha Kaefer and I am 12 years old. In December 2008, 11 months after I was born, my mom was diagnosed with hodgkin’s lymphoma. Of course, I don’t really remember much about that time because I wasn’t even a year old, but my mom tells me that I enjoyed slapping her bald head. I do know, however, that this time was rough for my mom and family. But, after 9 months of chemotherapy and radiation, she was finally declared cancer free on October 23, 2009. My mom has been cancer free for over 10 years and is leading a perfectly healthy lifestyle to this day. Since then, she has been involved in raising money to help fight and end blood cancer. I’ve been helping her do this my whole life; bake sales, learning how to ask for donations, etc. She took on the challenge of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Man and Woman of the Year Campaign where she raised over a quarter of a million dollars in just 10 weeks, and she won the title of Woman of the Year for Los Angeles for 2018. During that Campaign, I raised over $5,000 towards my mom’s huge goal. Today, my mom works for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) and helps raise money to end cancer once in for all! Since 1949, LLS has invested nearly $1.3 billion to groundbreaking research! I am super attached to the LLS mission to end cancer. I do it for my mom and all cancer patients out there, along with my mom’s (and my) friend Audrey who passed away from brain cancer. I want to make so that all patients diagnosed with this disease will fight and beat cancer. Cancer is hard on families and hurts so many people, it’s just not right for adults and even young children to go through that pain. I created this website to continue my fundraising efforts and have a place to collect donations year round. This website will also work as a place to advertise any events that I put on to raise money. I hope that you will join me in our battle to end cancer. Together, we can make a difference!
Thank you in advance for your support,
