Every 14 hours someone in Massachusetts dies by suicide.
It often leaves family and loved ones in shock, wondering “Why?”. Too many families have suffered this painful loss, but there is hope. Suicide can be prevented. You can help save lives by supporting the Samaritans’ Marathon Team today.
I am excited to be part of the Samaritans Boston Marathon team this year. I'll be training and running the Boston Marathon in April to help raise critical money needed for the Samaritans to continue their great work. As many of you know my wife Jeanine's mother, Katherine Mongeau Kelly, died from suicide 33 years ago. Our family has supported the Samaritans for many years, and has seen the significant impact of the organization on so many people.
The money we raise will help fund many programs including:
- Trained volunteers who listen day and night offering support to people who are struggling or feeling suicidal on call or text Helplines.
- SafePlace meetings and Survivor to Survivor visits help those who have lost a loved one to suicide deal with the unique grief of a suicide loss.
- Samaritans’ free Suicide Prevention Workshops - in schools, businesses, and community groups - teach teens and adults how to recognize that someone might be suicidal and how to help themselves, a friend, classmate, or co-worker.
I hope you will help me reach my fundraising goal!!
Thank you for your support!!
