Hello friends and family!! I was recently accepted as a Field Representative for Saha Global and I will be spending time this Summer in Ghana!
So what is Saha Global? Saha Global is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that partners with rural communities in developing countries to establish sustainable social businesses that provide basic services, like water and electricity. These businesses are owned and operated by women in the communities they serve, and use simple, affordable technologies. The maintenance and operation of these businesses is funded by revenue from the business sales, while the capital necessary to establish them is generated from fundraising activities, like this! All businesses implemented by Saha Global to date are currently in operation, providing necessary clean water and electricity to residents and providing a small income for the women who run them. For three weeks I will be working in Northern Ghana with three other Field Representatives to set up a water business in a village currently lacking access to clean water. Once set up, this business will provide a permanent source of water for the entire community. As I will be leading this process, I will be able to verify that the community I’m working with is benefiting directly from the business, and that it’s set up in a sustainable and lasting way. Saha Global is tackling global development issues in a unique way, and I’m beyond excited to be working with them!
As mentioned before, the capital necessary to establish these businesses is generated through fundraising, and as a Field Representative, I’m responsible for generating a portion of that. The funds I raise will go directly towards starting the water business my teammates and I will be establishing, and ensuring that it keeps running after we leave. I would greatly appreciate your help in this endeavor - every donation, in any amount, makes a difference!
Thank you so much for your time, and any donation you can make! If you have any questions about the project feel free to e-mail me at wilkinsos@tamu.edu
