Sam running the Spring Lake 5 Mile for the John Taylor Babbitt Foundation
The John Taylor Babbitt Foundation is a not for profit organization founded in John’s memory and dedicated to preventing sudden cardiac death. John was 16 years old when he collapsed and died from an undiagnosed heart condition while playing basketball with his friends. He was 2003 graduate of St. Patrick’s School in Chatham N.J. and a junior at The Pingry School in Martinsville. The vast majority of the Foundation's work has to do with placing AED’s (donating really) to not for profit organizations, such as churches, community theaters, after school programs, inter city schools, and youth athletic organizations (i.e. Little League etc). Over the past two years, the JTB Foundation has expanded the focus to engaging the Millennial's and working with them to establish heart safe work environments. An example of this was working with companies such as BNY MELLON to ensure AED’s are present within the work environment and that CPR/AED training is available for all employees. I have known the Babbitt family for years, from growing up in Chatham to seeing the family each summer down in Sea Girt, and it is an honor to run on behalf of the Foundation. Any donation would be greatly appreciated!!
