Based in the Portland, Oregon, USA metro area, Sail2Change is a grassroots, tax exempt nonprofit organization striving to improve community equity by empowering our youth through access, opportunity, authentic relationships, and alternative outdoor education. We do this through an immersive, four-week summer program where high school-aged students learn to sail for two weeks, then head into the Oregon wilderness to camp and backpack for another two weeks. Once they return to school, they are assigned a mentor for their next school year and are invited to monthly events revolving around outdoor activities. We offer this program at no cost to the students and their families. That is why we are reaching out for donations to cover the cost of the entire, month long summer program, which will serve a minimum of 30 male and 20 female students this July.
During this season of giving, Sail2Change requires urgent funding for our new, bold and unique social entrepreneurial vision to enable marginalized youth from diverse backgrounds to transform their lives and their futures. We all recall a moment in time and a mentor that changed the course of our lives. There are youth in need now.
